Discussion Groups

Discussion Groups are set up when member charities wish to meet to talk through their approaches to their specific shared issues, for example risks or controls associated with a specific fundraising activity. Currently there are two Discussion Groups in existence:

Care Charities - next meeting 14 October 2010 - if interested contact Martin Smith

Charity Retail - next meeting 1 September 2010 - if interested contact Carl Jackson

Special Interest Groups

Several Special Interest Groups (SIGs) have been formed to look specifically at certain issues relevant to the Network. As CIAN wants to encourage these but does not want CIAN to disintegrate into splinters,
terms of reference have been agreed for such groups. These differ from Discussion Groups in that there is generally a defined output that a SIG is aiming to produce in the form of an audit programme or guidance document.

If you are interested in setting up a new Special Interest Group, please email us

Past SIGs have been:

Fundraising - JustGiving.com   Contact: Janice Vale

Overseas Projects - point of contact:  t.b.a

Outsourcing activities (OSSIG) - produced an audit checklist for reviewing outsourced activities.

House to House Fundraising - considered proposed changes to Gaming Board regulations and supported members in submitting a response to proposed changes.

Fraud Response Plans - this SIG produced guidelines that can be downloaded here.
